Project description

Klimaaktiv is the climate protection initiative of the Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT) and an instrument for energy transition. This initiative deals with many topics related to renewable energies and energy efficiency. The Austria-wide network, as a result of the participation of organisations from various states, guarantees the optimum distribution of programme contents and helps benefit from synergies.
The klimaaktiv programme on building and renovation (klimaaktiv Bauen und Sanieren) stands for energy efficiency, ecological quality, comfort and execution quality. The programme partners aspire to disseminate the klimaaktiv building standard for building and renovation throughout all of Austria. In addition, the initiative promotes knowledge transfer to stakeholders in the construction industry.

The klimaaktiv programme on renewable heating (klimaaktiv Erneuerbare Wärme) promotes decarbonisation in the Austrian heating sector. A special focus is on improving the overall system quality of renewable heating systems and their economic and resource-efficient use. To this end, information products, customised education and training measures are developed and planning processes supported.

Project objectives

BeNu supports the klimaaktiv programmes in the following areas:

  • Klimaaktiv building standard: support of municipalities, property developers and planners for the construction and declaration of buildings in accordance with the klimaaktiv standard and subsequent plausibility review of submissions
  • Networking of Lower Austrian stakeholders in the construction and heating sector, such as by means of organising training for property developers and professionals
  • Quality assurance for heating systems in municipalities and private households, such as by the Heating Check or the Heating ECG
  • Dissemination of the klimaaktiv brand and the klimaaktiv contents at events for end users and training courses such as in energy consultant training in accordance with ARGE EBA criteria
