Project description

Biodiversity is not only an important basis of life for all of us, in many respects, the commercial success of companies also depends on ecosystems and their biodiversity. In the context of "Wirtschaft & Natur Niederösterreich", eNu cooperated with 50 companies and developed various projects to protect local species, integrate the topic of biodiversity into management and to communicate the respective involvement effectively.

Project results

• Awareness in companies was raised for the value of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
• Plants and companies were empowered to become active and take action themselves.
• The population was educated about the value of ecosystem services provided by nature and the positive role of companies.

Partners

This project was implemented in cooperation with the Austrian Environmental Umbrella Association (Umweltdachverband) and Biosphärenpark Wienerwald. Financially and in terms of content, the project was supported by the nature protection department as well as the departments for business, tourism, and technology of the state of Lower Austria. The Lower Austrian Economic Chamber is another important partner, allowing the companies and plants to be addressed directly.
